Fresh Fish from Lake Millstatt
The Brugger Fish Farm in Dellach am Millstätter See is Carinthia’s first aquaculture project that’s under the leadership of a female fish expert.
Ingrid Brugger-Fercher runs the family business together with her children. The facility includes several hatcheries and eight rearing ponds in which whitefish, char, and northern pike can grow in natural habitats. Fish ecology is very important to the Bruggers, and it informs all their activities. For example, they use only water that comes directly from Lake Millstatt for raising their fish.
