“The best of Carinthian cuisine mixed with Italian influences and seasoned with a pinch of international flavor.” That’s how the Styria-native Peter Brandstätter describes the cooking with which he spoils the guests at Hotel Karnerhof on Lake Faak. It would be more correct to say “again spoils the guests,” as Brandstätter was a chef at Karnerhof from 2005 to 2008 before he was drawn to various other places in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
The focus of Brandstätter’s creative cuisine is natural and high-quality ingredients, and he prefers to work with seasonal products from the Alps-Adriatic region. And all culinary herbs that he needs come from Karnerhof’s own garden, where over 50 different herbs grow and thrive.
